Beyond Your Own Limitations
In today's fast-paced and unpredictable world, it can be easy to lose sight of our purpose and resign ourselves to limited thinking. However, the words of Ephesians 3:20-21 call us to believe in and embrace a higher truth: that God's power working within us is capable of achieving infinitely more than we could ever imagine or request. This verse not only inspires hope and confidence, but it also presents a good reason for entrusting our lives to the glory of God.
The verse emphasizes the immeasurable power of God. While our human minds have a hard time understanding just how mighty God is, the Scriptures declare that His power is limitless. It surpasses the boundaries of human perspective, and therefore, our limitations and doubts are no match for the boundless power of God. Recognizing this, we should not be confined by our expectations or underestimate what God can accomplish through us.
The verse also highlights the intimate connection between God and His people. It speaks of His power at work within us, enabling us to go beyond our own capabilities, because we have His divine presence guiding and enhancing our efforts. When we stay close to God, His Holy Spirit empowers us to achieve the unimaginable, bringing glory to Him in the church and the world beyond.
I have never been fishing in my life but I can just imagine how discouraged Peter, James, and John were when all their hard work earned them nothing but empty nets. Then imagine how they felt when Jesus tells them to go to deeper water and cast their nets again after peak fishing hours! Despite all that they know about fishing, they obey Him and wind up with a catch so big their nets almost break and their two boats nearly sink because of the weight of all the fish they caught. From that time forward, they went from worrying about catching enough fish to becoming fishers of men. Glory to God! The same Power that filled those nets now lives within us. Halt your fruitless efforts and seek the Lord's help. Obey His instructions and let the Holy Spirit fill and empower you to go beyond your own limitations to a place where all the glory goes to God for what is accomplished!
